Richard Lewis Hearne OBE (30 January 1908 – 23 August 1979) was an English actor, comedian, producer and writer. He is best remembered for his stage and television character Mr Pastry.

Why was Mr pastry called Mr pastry?

He said he earned the sobriquet because he was so clumsy “like that bloke who used to be on TV and mess everything up.” Mr Pastry was the stage name for TV actor Richard Hearne, a popular children’s star of the 1950s and ’60s who was once considered for the role of Doctor Who.
