WordPress Is Now 10 Years Old
Ten years ago today, the first public version of WordPress was available. First fork of the little-known blogging platform b2/Cafelog started, WordPress has grown into the world’s largest CMS, powering 18% of the websites astounding.
Matt Mullenweg and Mike Little was initiated by WordPress and open source software has grown to include thousands of colleagues. Capabilities, the company behind WordPress.com, and one of the largest in the developed Stewart platform as a whole, announced last week that $50 million was raised in a secondary trading.
WordPress started as a free and easy way for users to publish their content. If you already have a web host that supports PHP and MySQL, and you knew how to use FTP, WordPress installed at the famous, less than five minutes. Today, many web host with the click of a button installed so that users do not even have to bother with FTP. WordPress.com offers a host of others are also available in abundance.
Moreover, WordPress is no longer just about personal blogging or publishing. As recently as 2010, I was silent for a CMS WordPress true now, but it is clearly no longer true.
