How to Secure Your Gmail Account by Using 2-Step Verification

Recently, Google changed the Gmail layout to where all settings are located under the gear icon on the top right of the screen. Click this icon, and then choose Account Settings.
You are re-routed to the main Google account page. Look for Personal Settings and then Security. Choose Using 2-step Verification.
Then click on Start Setup. If you don’t find it you can check following snap shoot.
Choose what kind of verification method you want to choose. Ok, I am choosing land phone or mobile phone and text message (SMS) or voice call. So that I will receive text message (SMS) or voice call on my mobile or land phone.
Then choose your country maximum time Google will show automatically your country on country, if not you can select your country by scrolling. Then input your land phone or mobile number (where the verification code text or voice call will be gone). Select the method SMS or voice call you can select any one whatever you want. Ok, I am choosing text message which is the easiest process. Then click on Send Code. After click on Send Code please check your land phone or mobile, you will find a text message (SMS) or a voice call from Google containing a verification Code. Enter that code on the code area, I got and I have input on that code area and click on Verify. After verify it click on Next.
On the next page Google will want to know your backup land phone number or mobile number. If your first phone lost or not with you, you can verify with backup phone. Select country and input backup phone number. Select the method. Click on Next button.
On the next Google will give you backup codes. If you lost both two phones and you will not carry. You can verify with one of those codes. So please print it or save it to text file must. After save those numbers check onYes. Click on Next button.
Click on turn on 2-step verification.
Sign in on your Gmail Account, giving username and password. Click on sign in.
The verification page appears. Enter the code sent to your phone in theEnter Code text entry box. If you do not want to repeat this code-sending process every time you sign in to your account from the computer you are currently using, make sure you click the box next to Remember verification for this computer for 30 days before clicking Verify. One think that always keep in your mind that if you are using GMail on Cyber cafe, Internet cafe, Friend’s Computer or where you don’t want to logged on Gmail, please don’t check remember box. If you want to verify your account another way (without SMS or Voice Call) select Other ways to get a verification code.
This 2-step verification only works for the Gmail Web site. You must verify every other application and device that you normally use to access your Gmail, including Outlook and your phone’s email client. To do this, on the application-specific passwords page, enter a name for the kind of application you wish to verify.
Click Generate Password. A password appears in a yellow box. Use this password in place of your normal password when logging in from the application. You should only need to do this once.
This added layer of security is both a blessing and a curse. Sure, it does make it a bit harder for would-be spammers and scammers to gain access to a Gmail account, but it can also be very annoying to verify each and every computer you access every month.
Luckily, Google is giving us the choice of whether or not to use this level of security. Use your own discretion when deciding if 2-level security is right for you.
