Widgets on Blog 4 Reasons Why We Should Have Widgets on Blog

Why are Widgets Important

Widgets are Important because they make things easier for the visitors. People don’t like wasting time and if they find your site harder to navigate then they will just leave your site and go to some other (Competition is high). So in order to glue you visitors to your site you’ll have to provide options which ease the tasks for them.

Mistakes New Bloggers Make

I’ve seen many blogs and most of them are of newbie bloggers, The most common mistake I see is Over-using widgets. Many blogs have so many widgets that instead of making things easy they make things worse. Many of the widgets are useless and not necessary but still people use them. Having too much java-script / widgets will make your blog slow.

Try to make minimum use of widgets and only use those which helps and not those which make things worse.

Reasons Why a Blog Should Have Widgets

As I said above that overuse of widgets can be dangerous to a blog’s traffic But this does not mean that we should not have widgets on our blogs. There are many reasons why we should have widgets.

Reason 1: They Make Things Easy
As I said earlier, Blog Widgets make things easy. Many people are lazy and they don’t care How much hard work bloggers put in writing and designing their blog, If they find something distracting then they will just leave your blog and go for another. So in order to increase traffic, you should make your blog lazy-people proof and widget helps you in doing so.

People are so lazy that they don’t even like to scroll page after reading article, that’s why nowadays bloggers install ‘Back to Top’ or ‘Scroll to Top’ widget. This small widget can be very useful. Other useful widgets are ‘Labels’ ‘Archive’ etc. So this proves that some widget are really useful and worth installing.

Reason 2 : They Helps Increase Page Views
Widgets like Recent Posts, Related Posts or Random posts are very helpful in increasing Page Views. When new visitors land on your blog, they are not aware of your blog and does not know what it contains. This is where these widgets come into play, If you have a Related Posts widget then visitors will easily find more related posts thus increasing pageviews.

Another widget which I found useful is Random Posts widget, This widget helps visitors explore more categories of your blog (for example: If you run a mult niche blog like me then this widget is very useful as it will direct visitors to other categories of your blog by displaying other interesting posts.

Reason 3 : They Help Increasing Followers

Suppose you have a Facebook fan page but how will people know about it? You visitors will have to search on Facebook in order to follow you, Same goes for Twitter and other social networks. But if you have a Social Subscribe widget installed then your visitors will not have to waste time by going to social networks and searching, What they have to do is a simple click and they will be able to get updates.

This will also help increasing your social following, as people will be just a click away. This was an example How widgets can be useful.

Reason 4 : They Make a Blog look Professional
Design is a very important factor and a blogger should pay equal attention as he does on content. Use of CSS makes widgets look good and professional. Many widgets like ‘Mashable Subscribe’ then Floating Social widget makes blog look cooler. Not only that it also helps increasing social following.
