Here are five things you should make sure you do prior to publishing your blog post. If you are smart then you will set up some form of structure or guideline, which you have to follow when you create a blog post. This will help you to maintain your blog post consistency, and will also give you a little check list which will help you to ensure you have done everything correct before you post your blog. You may feel that setting up such a regiment and structure is tantamount to taking your blog a little too seriously, but this is not the cases.
It is tantamount to taking your time more seriously. Writing your blog took time and effort on your part. If you spent a year building a Ferrari with your own two hands, when you take it out for its first drive would you neglect to pump up the tires or check the oil first? Your time is valuable and limited, so do not take it for granted.
1 Follow the Rules of SEO
Make sure that your blog post if fully search engine optimized (SEO). You want your blog post to be visible on the search engines results pages as soon as possible. This means that you must follow the rules of SEO that have been laid down by Google.
Make sure that your blog post is written naturally, and then check to see if all the relevant keywords and links are in place before posting. Make sure you have taken care of the obvious stuff such as grammar and spelling, and makes sure that the post flows well and is easy to read.
2 Follow your Target
Targeting is of vital importance to your blog post. You are writing your posts for a specific audience. There is no such thing as a blog post that will please everyone. You must write your posts with a certain reader in mind.
When you have finished your blog post, have a read through and see if the post you have created will appeal to your target reader. Is it something that will peak their interest? Is it something that will hold their attention?
3 Follow the Flow and Structure
Your blog post should be easy to read. When someone reads it, they should be able to follow the flow without any trouble. You cannot have thoughts and ideas that are disjointed or out of place. You also cannot do a mind dump on a certain subject, because even though it will have lots of interesting points, you will not be communicating them to the reader in a meaningful way.
You should leave your blog post a day and read it the day after. Does it still flow? Does it have a set structure? Are the points laid out well? Is your information concise and to the point?
4 Pictures and Videos
Put some pictures and videos in your blog post. A blog does not have to be all text. You can make it into more of a comic than at blog post if you like. You will be surprised how many people can connect with a blog post that has pictures and videos. You may also attract the sort of person who is not a big fan of reading.
You can also make your writing job a whole lot easier if you have to describe certain objects or situations in detail. You can just show a video or picture and save yourself a lot of writing.
Throw some links into your work. Link to people who agree with the point you are making. Link to the people you reference. Link to the websites that support your argument with facts and figures. Link to the pages where you researched your work. You may not feel that links add anything to your website, but you will be surprised how far up it pushed you, when you are being judged as an “authority” site by Google.
